March 8th marks International Women’s Day, and this year thousands of women have refused to go to work as part of the ‘daywithoutwomen’ initiative to highlight the vital role that women play in society. In the lead up to today, many were concerned about the effect the strike would have around the world. However, Donald Trump has settled any nervousness by issuing a statement informing us that his administration is still running as smoothly as it does every other day and is even considering making a national holiday for men. In the UK the government seems to be working more effectively than usual with no protests hampering Whitehall staff. However, a day in Scotland without Nicola Sturgeon saw the country fall into complete chaos. In the banking industry it is as if nothing has changed as bosses confirmed that they were still functioning and were still able to receive their disproportionately unfair bonuses as per usual.
